The property borders the ICW directly across the water from prestigious Figure Eight Island, where only a select number of residences occupy the island. Mason Landing Yacht Club will be discriminating as well. Only 34 homesites and 56 boat slips ranging from 25 to 40-feet will comprise Mason Landing Yacht Club. A first-class clubhouse and pool will round out the community, a perfect gathering spot for old and young right at the water’s edge.
All owners will have access to the water, and all will be close to the well-appointed marina. Homes will be of traditional North Carolina coastal design. Front porches will capture evening breezes and serve both as focal points as neighbors stroll down to the water’s edge. Rear porches on some residences will look out over the natural areas that are almost park-like in appearance. Homeowners will have their choice of custom builders while some spec houses will be available as well.
“The common element will be that all will be close to the marina and have access to the water,” says Lee Crouch of Intracoastal Realty.
Landscaping of both common areas and of yards will be maintained by the neighborhood association, allowing for more play time on the water.
Currently the clubhouse is under construction in Mason Landing as the waterfront’s bulkhead is being installed. Lots start at $400,000 or with a boat slip, in the mid-$500,000’s. Boaters will enjoy slipping right out to the ICW with Mason Inlet a short distance to the south and Rich Inlet to the north. A lunch at the casual hotspot Dockside at Wrightsville Beach is just minutes away by boat. For commuters looking to dispel road rage, afternoon and weekend travel can be done mainly by boat, with the wind whipping away stress with every wave crossed.
“We have a climate conducive to boating year-round. You don’t have to put your boat up. This is a great location because folks go to the barrier islands to picnic. People would ratherget in their boats than their cars,” says Crouch.
Plus, Mason Landing Yacht Club’s location on the mainland offers greater storm protection for boaters and property owners. The property is perched on the higher bluffs of the Wilmington area. The wooded Middle Sound site sits above the flood plain. Plus, presently the property falls into the New Hanover County tax rates rather than into the city tax bracket. With a brand new elementary school minutes away, Crouch anticipates that Mason Landing Yacht Club will become the home for families and secondary residences for people anticipating retirement at the coast.
The common element for all, though, will surely be the boating lifestyle that Mason Landing Yacht Club encourages and offers.
